I was born in Cuba during the difficult years following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Growing up under a communist dictatorship taught me lessons that few Americans ever experience firsthand. I witnessed food shortages, government surveillance, and the consequences of speaking against those in power. When I was six years old, my father was arrested and imprisoned because of his Christian faith and community involvement. Four years later, after international pressure led to the release of many political prisoners, my family was allowed to leave Cuba and start a new life in the United States.

In 1998, Kansas City became our home. Like many immigrant families, we arrived with very little but were given an opportunity to build a better future through hard work, faith, and personal responsibility. Those experiences shaped my belief that government should serve its citizens, not control them, and that elected officials must always remain accountable to the people they represent.

For nearly 16 years, I worked in nonprofit community health centers serving diverse populations throughout our region. During that time, I held leadership roles in operations, outreach, quality improvement, interpreter services, and clinic administration. I worked closely with patients, healthcare providers, community organizations, executives, and boards of directors to solve problems, improve services, and ensure resources were used effectively.

Today, I am a health insurance broker and small business owner who continues to help individuals and families navigate complex healthcare and government systems. My professional career has given me extensive experience managing budgets, improving operational efficiency, and serving people from all walks of life.

I am running for Jackson County Legislator because I believe county government must focus on its core responsibilities: public safety, responsible spending, infrastructure, transparency, and protecting opportunities for working families and small businesses. As someone who has experienced both government oppression and the opportunities that freedom provides, I do not take our community or our country for granted.

Jackson County has given my family opportunities we could never have imagined when we arrived from Cuba. I am running to help ensure future generations can enjoy a safer, more affordable, and more prosperous community. I believe public office is not about power — it is about service, accountability, and delivering results for the people who place their trust in you.
